Global Consulting is the foundation of Sophia Bekele’s advisory legacy — the body of work that established her two-decade reputation as a strategist who anticipates inflection points, translates institutional complexity into advantage, and builds systems designed to endure beyond political cycles and technology eras.
Through CBS International (now CBSegroup), Bekele advised private-sector leaders, governments, and international organizations across development, governance, and long-term strategic planning. She also supported corporate development and communications programs for U.S. start-ups and OTC companies, while advancing governance standards across diverse institutional environments. Over these formative years, she built both national and international client portfolios and established African affiliate entities such as SBCnet, enabling sustainable local capability and knowledge transfer.
During this period, she delivered major nation-building and internetworking programs — including e-government and digital infrastructure initiatives for the OAU (African Union), Ethiopian Parliament, and regional ministries, alongside similar modernization efforts in Ethiopia.
Collectively, these roles sharpened her ability to build, guide, and direct transformation across both public and private sectors without compromising institutional autonomy. Working alongside senior executives and high-level public authorities, she helped surface strategic vulnerabilities, set governance priorities, and develop policy frameworks and remediation guidelines designed to strengthen institutional resilience and reduce systemic exposure.

CBSIntl and its people spend enormous amount of time and resources jetting from country to country, spending time with the right people, shaping economic policy, improving national business climates, developing communities, as well as the strategy of individual firms – It is not always a glamorous affair by any standard.
Located few miles north of Silicon Valley, the technology capital of the world, CBS International was established in with an objective to support the transfer of technology and knowledge to large and enterprise-wide organizations in emerging markets. Since, CBS clients include global, multinational, continental and national organizations, in both private and public sector.
